Program Overview & Institutional Context

The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is the foundational medical degree in India. Regulated strictly under the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, the degree is delivered in accordance with the modern Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) framework designed to foster clinical acumen, diagnostic precision, and ethical patient communication from the very first year.

Upon completing 4.5 years of academic instruction and successfully clearing the professional university examinations, students undertake a mandatory 1-year Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI) in accredited teaching hospitals to earn full medical registration.

Admissions Advisory Recommendations

1

Prioritize medical colleges attached to high-volume government hospitals; clinical proficiency depends directly on the diversity of patient case presentations encountered during bedside postings.

2

Review state rural service bond regulations prior to finalizing choices: states like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka enforce 1-2 year mandatory service terms.

3

Prepare methodically for the upcoming National Exit Test (NExT), which will serve as the licentiate exam for medical practice and the entrance test for MD/MS postgraduate seats.
